Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss

Kick off the Winter blues and enjoy this heart-warming classic of Comic Opera, the ever-popular masterwork of composer Johann Strauss. Memorable catchy tunes are woven into a plot of mistaken identities maintained to avoid disgrace, with hilarious consequences, amid one great central deception schemed for come-uppance as The Revenge of the Bat.

The creative team from last year's acclaimed Iolanthe tour returns to present a sparkling new fully staged touring production of Die Fledermaus in English, performing a Saturday matinee at Southward Theatre. Direction is by John Goddard with choreography by Lia Purcell, and the cast of 40 singers and dancers with 30 piece orchestra is conducted by Hugh McMillan; live music at its best, in the established tradition of WGSLO touring production values. A wide range of seating reserves and concession options provides all-age and family accessibility, with group discounts available for 5 and 10-up seat purchases; details on http://www.gns.org.nz.
